Wide Receiver

This has become a big issue for the Vikings. They were hit hard by injuries and then left with little in terms of depth.

Chad Beebe went out early in the season and then Adam Thielen missed a handful of games late. Minnesota was lucky that rookie Bisi Johnson stepped up and filled the role of their third receiver. The late-rounder ran good routes, had sticky hands, and most importantly he earned the trust of Kirk Cousins.

Johnson should be a factor for the Vikings for years to come. The issue is that the rest of Minnesota’s receiving cupboard is bare.

Beebe wasn’t very impressive when he was healthy and his future with the Vikings is by no means a lock. Laquon Treadwell has played okay in spot duty, but like Beebe, he isn’t guaranteed anything beyond Minnesota’s upcoming playoff game. Alexander Hollins got some playing time, but he is still better suited to the practice squad. The Vikings have to add depth here in case the injuries pile up again in 2020.

The Vikings probably wouldn’t use a first-round pick on a wideout, but Day 2 is definitely a possibility for them to take one. Minnesota’s own Tyler Johnson would be a great selection given his size and playmaking ability. A few other names to keep an eye on would be KJ Hamler, Brandon Aiyuk, and Jalen Reagor.
