Jordan Love – QB (Utah State)

Love was one of the bigger names down at this year’s Senior Bowl and a guy who generated a lot of buzz for himself. His play was a little up and down during the week, but NFL teams were smitten with his mobility, arm strength, and pocket presence.

Love fits the mold of the new-look quarterbacks who are taking over the league and he is sure to go somewhere in the first round of the 2020 draft. If for some reason, he’s still on the board at pick No. 25, he is definitely an underrated choice to be the Vikings’ choice.

Minnesota doesn’t necessarily have to take a quarterback in this year’s draft since they have Kirk Cousins under contract for another season and they are more likely to extend him at this point than to let him go after year three.

Even so, Cousins is 31-years-old and the Vikings likely wouldn’t offer him a deal longer than three years. Having his replacement on the roster and developing him would be a wise move.

Love is an exciting player to watch. He can make throws on the run and can drop a ball right where it needs to be through double coverage. Love can put plenty of mustard on the ball and he can extend a play with his legs.

He does like to look at his first option rather than going through progressions a lot of the time. But this is where a year or two of development would come in handy.

The chances of Love being there at pick No. 25 for Minnesota this year is slim. The New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints both pick right ahead of the Vikings in the first round and they both are in the market for a young quarterback to be the new face of their franchise.

If he does slip to Minnesota, it’d make a lot of sense for them to take him to potentially be their quarterback of the next decade.
