Laquon Treadwell

Here’s a familiar face Vikings fans are guaranteed to remember. Minnesota selected Laquon Treadwell in the 2016 NFL Draft and they watched him blossom into an absolute bust.

The Vikings finally cut ties with him before the start of last season, but then brought him back in after the receiving group was hit with injuries. Treadwell actually began to show small flashes throughout the year, but he still wasn’t featured in the offense in any way.

Treadwell isn’t going to ever be a key piece in Minnesota’s offense, as many have realized by now. But he adds to their receiver room that is currently desperate for depth.

Depth is going to be hard to come by this offseason with the Vikings’ expected cap situation, but landing guys like Treadwell will be key in keeping this train chugging along.

Treadwell garnered a cap hit of under $600,000 in 2019 and he is someone who likely won’t be looking for much more than that again this year. He will be easily affordable and Minnesota can still keep a lot of their key pieces in place without moving on from important players to re-sign him.

While signing a guy like Treadwell isn’t going to get Vikings fans overly excited, the big picture needs to look at. Not many teams are going to be looking for someone like Treadwell, so he will be easy to re-sign. He’s also still young and he will be at a minimal price that Minnesota can afford.

The free-agent receiver is fairly lackluster outside of the top two guys available this offseason, so the Vikings settling for someone like Treadwell feels like it’s destined to happen.
