Corey Coleman

Corey Coleman is a very interesting name to keep an eye on this offseason. He was drafted the same year the Vikings drafted Laquon Treadwell and he has struggled just as much in his career.

Coleman was a highly sought after prospect that had comparisons to Odell Beckham Jr., which just destined him for failure. But if one takes Coleman for what he is, he’s a decent NFL receiver and that’s really what Minnesota needs for 2020.

Coleman tore his ACL last July, so he didn’t see the field at all in 2019. He’s dealt with injuries throughout his entire short career in the league, so there is definitely some concern there for a team looking into signing him.

Coleman made just over $700,000 last year, which is right in the price range the Vikings can afford. He’d be a good depth piece to add that Minnesota can rotate in the slot and on the outside.

He has strong hands and he can run routes really well, which is something Minnesota’s top two receivers do tremendously well. This offseason for the Vikings is all about adding depth to a position of need, especially considering the dip in production the offense took in 2019 when Adam Thielen missed some time.

Adding a guy like Coleman is another signing that Minnesota fans may scoff at and move on with their day. But if one remembers how highly thought of Coleman was coming out of the draft in 2016 and the price the Vikings could get on a guy like him as a depth/rotational piece, it could turn out to be a very good offseason signing.
