Johnathan Hankins

Although Johnathan Hankins’ pass-rushing ability has been on the decline in recent seasons, he should still command widespread interest in free agency this year.

This is thanks in no small part to his consistent ability to prevent running backs from gaining sufficient yards, especially in short-yardage situations. He is monstrous off the line of scrimmage and he is constantly attracting double-teams.

Hankins is an extremely aggressive player at nose tackle and made almost $5 million last season with the Oakland Raiders. This was his last in a two-year contract with the Raiders following a move from the Indianapolis Colts in 2018.

He recorded 50 total tackles to go alongside 1.5 sacks and a pass deflection last year. Hankins is a proven starter at the NFL level and he is potentially a good fit for the Vikings.

In addition to his impressive exploits on the field, Hankins is a respected leader in the locker room. He is constantly motivating others around him and if Minnesota were to cut ties with the likes of Linval Joseph and Everson Griffen this offseason, they will need someone to step up and replace their leadership value to the team.

A salary in the region of $5 million to $7 million per season may be enough to convince Hankins into signing with the Vikings this year.
