Assessing Mackensie Alexander’s value ahead of free agency

Alexander’s importance in the slot
Another thing that is going to benefit Mackensie Alexander in free agency this offseason is his ability to fit into different schemes.
The need for a slot cornerback is higher than ever thanks to the passing preference of the majority of the teams around the NFL. Alexander is somewhat of a slot expert after four years of playing the role with the Vikings, which is going to be highly sought after trait.
Having someone like Alexander to cover slot receivers is in high demand. He is also strong and accomplished enough to go up against pass-catching tight ends. This only enhances his chances of a big contract in free agency.
There are not many corners in the league who can play this role effectively and with the level of consistency that Alexander possesses. His adaptability can also see him perform well on the outside when called upon.
This is going to ensure Alexander will not be short of offers when free agency opens later this month. His value to Minnesota has been there for all to see and his play last season took the focus off of some of the other failings within a troubled area of the field for the franchise.
Alexander is a rare commodity in today’s NFL and a player of his skill is very hard to find. This will undoubtedly lead to a financial windfall from the Vikings or another team that goes all out to acquire him this year.
