Why he won’t return to form

Maybe last season was a glimpse of what’s to come for Adam Thielen? Perhaps the Vikings and the rest of the NFL have already seen the best of what he has to offer.

Thielen will be turning 30-years-old in August and this the age where a number of football players start to experience a decline in their performance.

Data has shown that most receivers in the NFL hit their peak between the ages of 25 and 27. Thielen started to really become a factor for Minnesota when he was 26 and when he was 28 in 2018, he had the best season of his career.

Last year, Julian Edelman, Julio Jones, and Travis Kelce were the only three players aged 30 or older who finished with over 1,000 receiving yards. These three were also the only guys who were 30 or older that ended the season with more than 75 catches.

Several players around the NFL who were at least 30-years-old had solid seasons in 2019, but very few were able to perform at a superstar level.
