6. Sammy White (1976 – 1980)

  • 75 games
  • 240 receptions
  • 4,009 yards
  • 37 touchdowns

A second-round draft pick in 1976, Sammy White made an immediate impact with the Vikings. In his rookie season, he led the team with 906 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns on his way to being named the NFL AP Offensive Rookie of the Year.

White led Minnesota in receiving touchdowns during his first three seasons with the team. During his first five years, he shared the field with the next receiver on the ranking.

White played his entire 10-year career with the Vikings. He currently ranks eighth in team history in receptions with 393, fifth in receiving yards with 6,400, and fourth in touchdowns with 50.

5. Ahmad Rashad (1976 – 1980)

  • 75 games
  • 319 receptions
  • 4,372 yards
  • 30 touchdowns

Drafted fourth overall by the St. Louis Cardinals in the first round of the 1972 NFL draft, it was four years before Ahmad Rashad joined the Vikings in 1976.

Rashad spent two years in St. Louis and a year in Buffalo before a knee injury kept him out for the entire 1975 season. A free agent in 1976, he signed with the expansion Seattle Seahawks and was traded to Minnesota right before the start of the season. That year, he started 11 games for the Vikings and he finished second to running back Chuck Foreman in receptions with 53.

During his next four seasons with Minnesota, Rashad led the team in receptions and receiving yards three times and touchdowns once. He spent a total of seven years with the Vikings and among the franchise’s all-time records, he still ranks seventh in receptions and receiving yards and sixth in touchdowns.
