Trade No. 2

  • Anthony Harris – S

The Vikings might have franchised star safety Anthony Harris this offseason. However, they have reportedly been trying to trade the player ever since.

They might be willing to move Harris if they are going to get a productive player in return. Losing another member of their secondary is not ideal, but it is something the Vikings seem steadfast on.

The Redskins do need help at the safety spot and they would see Harris as an ideal fit. A deal could be made providing they are not asking for additional draft picks in return.

It would also free up some necessary cap space for Minnesota to take on Williams’ current deal and give him the new contract he is reportedly looking for. Harris was one of the main contributors to the Vikings’ success last season, but at least they would get something substantial in return if he is traded.

If Harris were eventually dealt, it would leave Minnesota with just Harrison Smith from their 2019 starting secondary. The cornerback trio of Mackensie Alexander, Trae Waynes, and Xavier Rhodes have all moved on to new teams and this is an area of the field that needs to be significantly strengthened in the coming weeks by the Vikings.

Trading Harris for Williams would allow Minnesota to spend their two first-round draft picks on a cornerback and a safety. It will be up to the Vikings’ decision-makers to identify the players who can produce right away though as there is no margin for error.
