4 pleasant surprises from the Vikings 2020 training camp
By Adam Patrick
Alexander Hollins – WR
Last year, Alexander Hollins shocked a few people when he actually appeared in four games for the Vikings. Undrafted out of Eastern Illinois, Hollins was even on the active roster during Minnesota’s upset win over the New Orleans Saints in the first round of last season’s playoffs.
After spending most of 2019 on the Vikings practice squad, the young receiver is looking to earn a spot on the team’s final roster this year. So far, Hollins is playing well enough during Minnesota’s training camp to at least earn some legitimate consideration for a spot among the team’s final 53.
During one sequence earlier this week, the second-year receiver beat Vikings rookie cornerback Cameron Dantzler with a double-move to create separation and haul in a nice catch. Then on Thursday, Hollins made a beautiful, contested-catch while being covered very well by Minnesota corner Kris Boyd.
There aren’t many practices left during this year’s training camp for the young receiver to prove he deserves a spot on the Vikings’ regular-season roster. But so far, he’s shown that he’s going to make it very tough for Minnesota to get rid of him when it comes time for the team to make their final cuts.
