Ifeadi Odenigbo – DE

While the addition of Yannick Ngakoue for the Vikings is exciting, it was also a little bittersweet for those who were looking forward to seeing what Ifeadi Odenigbo could do as a starter.

Odenigbo certainly doesn’t seem to be happy about Minnesota’s recent trade. But why should he be? He was heading into his first season as a starting NFL defensive end and it could have resulted in him earning a very nice payday in 2021.

Odenigbo will be a restricted free agent next year, so there’s still a pretty good chance that he could return to the Vikings after the upcoming season. But his desire to play elsewhere after 2021 definitely increased following Minnesota’s decision to trade for Ngakoue.

With the Vikings’ new addition, Odenigbo will probably resume a similar role in the team’s defense to what he did last season. He has the ability to play on both the inside and the outside of the defensive line and Minnesota used that to their advantage last year.

Even though he won’t be in the starting lineup anymore, Odenigbo is still going to play an important role for the Vikings this season and his impact will continue to be felt.
