Control the clock

One of the biggest factors over the last two weeks from the Minnesota Vikings’ perspective is their lack of ability to control the clock. Time of possession is a big thing in the NFL and this is something the offense needs to do a much better job of.

This improved slightly in their disappointing loss at the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2. But it is not like things could get any worse in this regard.

The Tennessee Titans will be smelling blood when they see the Vikings’ woeful offensive performances on film. This is further highlighted by their lack of protection on the interior, which is something that is sure to be music to the ears of DaQuan Jones and Jadeveon Clowney.

Offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak has to come up with the right sort of scheme to get the most out of the weapons at his disposal. It’s clear that Kirk Cousins isn’t going to have long to distribute the football, so it will be the coach’s job to put his signal-caller in the best possible position to succeed.

The same applies to Kubiuak’s usage of running back Dalvin Cook, who has been solid if not spectacular during the first fortnight of action. Both games have gotten away from the Vikings which has limited the running back to a certain degree and only time will tell as to whether the same will happen against the Titans.
