Vikings replace Mike Hughes on roster with a supersonic speedster

On Monday, the Minnesota Vikings announced the signings of two players, including cornerback Parry Nickerson.
This past weekend, the Minnesota Vikings held their 2021 rookie minicamp to get their first look at all of this year’s draft picks, undrafted free agents, and even some players who were invited to try out for the team.
On Sunday, we shared that the Vikings were reportedly expected to sign two of the players who were trying out for a roster spot during the minicamp. On Monday, Minnesota signed one of the two guys who were part of the report, and then they also signed someone who didn’t even participate in this year’s rookie minicamp.
Former Green Bay Packers cornerback Parry Nickerson and former Buffalo offensive tackle Evin Ksiezarczyk became the two newest members of the Vikings’ roster on Monday.
New Minnesota Vikings cornerback has extremely impressive speed
With their recent decision to trade Mike Hughes to the Kansas City Chiefs, most expected Minnesota to add another corner to their roster before the start of this summer’s training camp.
With Mike Zimmer as the team’s head coach, there’s always a chance of the Vikings adding more cornerbacks before training camp. But for now, it seems like Nickerson is the guy who will be filling in the roster spot created by the recent exit of Hughes.
Nickerson was originally selected by the New York Jets in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft after spending his college career at Tulane. Prior to getting drafted, he ran a 40-yard dash in an astounding 4.32 seconds during the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine.
The Jets actually ended up trading him to the Seattle Seahawks in 2019 and since then, he’s also had brief stints with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Detroit Lions, and Packers. During his three years in the NFL, Nickerson has accumulated a total of 27 tackles and one pass breakup.
In addition to adding the former Green Bay corner, Minnesota also signed Ksiezarczyk to help improve their offensive tackle depth heading into training camp.
These two additions might not seem like much currently, but there’s a chance that both could earn a spot on the Vikings’ roster if they are able to impress during this summer’s training camp and the preseason.
