Pierce getting fierce

After sitting out all of 2020 with health-related concerns about COVID-19, Michael Pierce had his return to action stalled a bit when a calf injury kept him from being a full-go for the start of Minnesota Vikings training camp.

Despite his injury, he was present at camp. Courtney Cronin mentioned the wrap on his left calf while he did individual work on the sidelines. For a player that wasn’t expected to get much of a workout, if any, on Day 1, this was a pleasant surprise.

The quote of the day might have come from linebacker Eric Kendricks. The All-Pro defender referred to Michael Pierce and Dalvin Tomlinson as being “meaty boys” to take care of opposing offenses at the first level of the defense.

At this point, there is no way of knowing if the “Meaty Boys” will be the next incarnation of the “Williams Wall” but hearing how tough Michael Pierce is and the new nickname for the team’s interior defensive lineman, it’s tough not to get a little more excited about seeing this in Week 1 of the regular season.
