Pierce takes the field

For the first time this training camp, Michael Pierce was on the field for Minnesota Vikings and participating in drills.  Eric Smith of Vikings.com shared on Twitter that he was a full-go for activities.

Last year, Pierce sat out the season due to health concerns but should be on the field for the 2021 NFL season. His presence will be a huge benefit to a squad that was dominated at the line of scrimmage last year.

The 340-pound defensive tackle will be a great anchor at the nose position. It will be difficult for opposing offenses to move as a run defender and combining him with Dalvin Tomlinson should be a massive improvement over last year’s unit.

After being out of action for so long with the opt-out and this year’s calf injury, it’s great to have him back on the field and ready for action. This is especially good after dealing with the word “tweak” from last season.

Plus, tight end Tyler Conklin returned for the Minnesota Vikings while some of the team’s veterans including Harrison Smith, Adam Thielen, and Patrick Peterson took the day off.

What else do you think was a notable takeaway from Thursday’s training camp? And how do you feel about the drama surrounding the Minnesota Vikings at this point? Let us know in the comments.
