More quick thoughts from Minnesota’s win over Detroit

Minnesota’s final drive in the first half was infuriating – After the Lions kicked a field goal to reduce the Vikings’ lead to seven points, Minnesota got the ball back on their own 19-yard line with two timeouts and around 40 seconds left on the game clock.

Instead of taking a few chances down the field to at least get another field goal on the scoreboard, the Vikings just decided to have Mattison run the ball twice to drain the clock.

This came back to bite Minnesota at the end of the game and it’s decisions like this that have led to the team not being able to meet their potential this season.

Thielen is nowhere to be found – Adam Thielen began the 2021 season on fire, with four touchdown catches in his first three games. However, his production has gone down significantly in Minnesota’s last two matchups.

Thielen finished with only three catches last week in the loss to the Cleveland Browns, and then on Sunday against the Lions, the Vikings receiver only had two catches.

Something’s off with Thielen and, hopefully, he can get out of his funk sooner than later for Minnesota.

Hunter is on track to get PAID in 2022 – Danielle Hunter added another sack on Sunday, bringing his season total to six. It’s clear that Hunter feels just fine after missing all of the 2020 campaign with a neck injury.

If he continues to play at a high level for the rest of the season, the veteran defensive end can expect to get a massive new contract in 2022.
