The sack daddy is back

Coming into this game, Danielle Hunter had five sacks and was a disruptive force in the Minnesota Vikings defense. Finding someone to compliment his play on the opposite side of the defensive line seemed like it was going to be a real mystery.

Enter Everson Griffen. His return to the Vikings has been a career renewal for him. After registering sacks in back-to-back games against the Seahawks and Browns then following that up with a two-sack performance in Week 5.

Having a good pass-rushing duo has allowed the Vikings defense to hold their last two opponents to an average of 13.7 points per game, which gives the offense a great chance to score enough points to win a game.

Through five weeks, the Vikings have 17 sacks*. In 2020, the entire team only mustered 23 total sacks. Looking that those numbers should already put at least a little bit of a smile on Vikings fans’ faces.
