4 sneaky threats the Vikings must contain at the Panthers in Week 6
By Dean Jones
Tommy Tremble – TE
The Minnesota Vikings might also want to keep a close eye on Tommy Tremble whenever he’s on the field. He already has two touchdowns in limited action this season and the Carolina Panthers have high hopes for the third-round selection out of Notre Dame moving forward.
Tremble is already an NFL-ready blocker who is aggressive at the line of scrimmage and also assists well at the second level. The tight end is seen as a work in progress catching the football consistently, but the Panthers are keen to give the rookie more playing time after trading Dan Arnold to the Jacksonville Jaguars as part of the C.J. Henderson deal.
Carolina is lining Tremble up all over the field, so the Vikings must be wary of the threat he brings to the table. This bears more significance in the red zone, with the player’s size and physicality enabling him to get open quicker than most.
Much will depend on whether Carolina’s suspect offensive line holds up against a stout Minnesota defensive front. But quarterback Sam Darnold will be striving to get the football out of his hands quickly and could use Tremble as a security blanket when things aren’t developing downfield as expected.
Minnesota’s linebackers are in for a physical afternoon against Tremble. Something they need to ready themselves for.
