Trade for Mike Wallace in 2015

After two underwhelming years from a highly-paid Greg Jennings, the Vikings decided to part ways with the veteran wide receiver and trade for a guy who could stretch the field in Mike Wallace.

Minnesota sent a fifth-round draft pick to the Miami Dolphins during the 2015 offseason to acquire Wallace, a receiver who averaged 15.6 yards per catch in his first six years in the NFL.

Unfortunately, Wallace wasn’t much of a fit for the Vikings’ run-first offense. In fact, a rookie by the name of Stefon Diggs wound up leading Minnesota in catches and receiving yards during the 2015 season, not Wallace.

Less than a year after catching 39 passes for 473 yards (12.1 average) and two touchdowns, the Vikings decided to cut Wallace. Even though Minnesota only gave up a fifth-round pick to acquire him, it was still disappointing that his lone season in the Twin Cities didn’t turn out better.
