4 Minnesota Vikings on thin ice after Week 8 disaster vs. the Cowboys

Mackensie Alexander – CB
Bringing Mackensie Alexander back in free agency after one season with the Cincinnati Bengals was seen as a shrewd bit of business by the Vikings. Unfortunately for the organization and the cornerback, things haven’t really gone according to plan.
Alexander looks like a shell of his former self within a secondary that isn’t doing enough. His familiarity with the scheme hasn’t transitioned into consistent production as yet, but the Vikings don’t exactly have solid options to replace the veteran currently.
Cameron Dantzler is the only realistic possibility for playing time after Minnesota rightfully released former first-round pick Jeff Gladney. Even though the second-year-pro is only just returning to Mike Zimmer’s good graces.
According to Pro Football Focus, Alexander has given up 22 receptions from 32 targets en route to a dismal 47.9 grade. Unless significant improvements are made, the Clemson product will be cut loose for the second time in three years.
Something needs to be done in this area of the field. The Vikings are giving up 246.1 yards per game through the air, which might be the middle of the pack, but not good enough for a team looking to make a swift return to the postseason.
Alexander needs to buck up his ideas. Otherwise, it’ll cost him and the team.
