Dru Samia – OG

Grade: F

The Vikings thought they got themselves a steal with Dru Samia when he was taken in Round 4 of the 2019 NFL Draft. Samia was getting rave reviews in OTAs and mini-camp, as there was a ton of buzz about his massive size. That buzz got many to believe he would be competing for a starting job in training camp.

When camp rolled around and notes were coming out about the practices, it was reported Samia was rolling with the third and fourth teams. He just couldn’t ascend the depth chart, and that was the story of his rookie season, as he was inactive for the better part of it.

Samia’s second season wasn’t much better than the first. He did finally see some action as he came in and replaced Pat Elflein in Week 2. Fans were clamoring for this change to happen, as Elflein’s play had fallen way off. Samia came in and somehow was worse. He was a flag magnet, he was too slow, and he lacked the power to fend off interior rushers.

Samia was injured a few weeks later and mercifully was cut during the 2021 preseason. Samia came in with a lot of promise but was another miss on the interior offensive line for Rick Spielman.
