In his first opportunity to be a full-time starter last season with the Ravens, Anthony Averett proved that he has what it takes to be a starting corner in the NFL.
Did Averett emerge as one of the top cornerbacks in the league last year? No, but he still has the abilities to be a solid starter for a team, like the Vikings, that isn’t expected to have a ton of money to spend in free agency this offseason.
Interestingly, Averett’s uncle is former Minnesota offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie and he was a college teammate of current Vikings tight end Irv Smith Jr. when the two attended Alabama in 2016 and 2017.
When it comes to what Minnesota is probably going to be able to afford this year, Averett could be among the best corners that are within their price range.
