Carlton Davis – CB

There has been a revolving door at the cornerback position over the last few years with the Minnesota Vikings. With Patrick Peterson and Mackensie Alexander out of contract this offseason, this might just be the case once again.

Jeff Gladney’s legal issues and subsequent release left the Vikings without a first-round talent, which hurt them. Cameron Dantzler’s progression during his sophomore campaign was encouraging, but much more will be needed if Minnesota wants to contend for the NFC North crown in 2022.

Perhaps going down the draft route is the better option. However, monitoring the situation between Carlton Davis and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wouldn’t hurt in the slightest.

Although Davis turned out just 10 times for the Buccaneers during their Super Bowl defense, his production was still of the highest standard. He can lock up one side of the field with ease and at just 25 years old, there could be even more to come in his prime.

Tampa Bay has some financial issues of their own this offseason, so keeping all their top talent is almost impossible. Couple this with Tom Brady’s retirement and it’s not hard to see why this is no longer an attractive destination.

The Vikings would need to pay a hefty price for Davis. Something that might not be in their capabilities right now.
