Last season, Jameis Winston was on his way to having one of the most successful seasons of his NFL career. In four of his first six starts for the Saints last year, Winston finished with a passer rating over 108 and he threw for multiple touchdowns in three of these six games as well.
But then he suffered a torn ACL in a Week 8 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and his season came to a close. Now, he’s preparing to enter free agency for the second year in a row.
If the Vikings don’t believe that Winston’s knee injury will have a significant impact on his future, then he might be someone for the team to consider bringing in if they move on from Kirk Cousins.
Former New Orleans head coach Sean Payton was able to get the most out of Winston last season before the quarterback’s injury, and it’s possible that new Minnesota head coach Kevin O’Connell could get similar results out of the former No. 1 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
