Sam Darnold

2021 Team:

  • Carolina Panthers

2021 Stats (in 12 games):

  • 59.9 percent completion rate
  • 2,527 yards, 9 touchdowns, 13 interceptions
  • 71.9 passer rating, 33.2 QBR
  • No. 36 QB in 2021 by PFF

Recently, the Panthers were linked to Kirk Cousins after a report revealed that Carolina had apparently made a call to the Vikings about the quarterback’s possible availability.

Nothing reportedly came out of that phone call, but Carolina is still a team to keep an eye on as a possible Cousins landing spot this offseason.

If the Vikings actually do end up making a deal that sends Cousins to the Panthers, Carolina might want the trade package to include them sending Sam Darnold to the Twin Cities.

Darnold has really failed to meet any of the expectations he was given when he was the No. 3 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Perhaps he hasn’t been pointed in the right direction to succeed and maybe Kevin O’Connell can help fix that. But Darnold as Minnesota’s starting quarterback isn’t exactly going to make them the favorite in the NFC North next season, to say the least.
