Trai Turner – OG

The Vikings got some slightly improved production from their offensive line interior in 2021. They also have two bookend tackles to build around in Brian O’Neill and Christian Darrisaw, which is a key component of every successful NFL franchise more often than not.

Finding some upgrades at the guard positions could be useful for the Vikings. Ezra Cleveland showed some promise in year two of his professional career and hopes also remain high for the likes of Wyatt Davis and Oli Udoh long-term.

However, if those in power want their first season to go smoothly, then acquiring a veteran with proven production might be beneficial. Although Trai Turner might be on the decline somewhat, the five-time Pro Bowler is still just 28-years-old and might be available relatively cheaply if the Pittsburgh Steelers decide to go in a different direction.

On his day, Turner is a brute force on running downs and outstanding from a pass protection standpoint. Keeping the player healthy seems the trickiest part in recent years and that’s what makes this a potentially risky signing for the Vikings despite his obvious credentials.

This was something the Steelers managed to do well in 2021, which is a testament to their ongoing ability to keep veterans on the field through rep management during the week. Turner played 1,082 snaps throughout the season, giving up seven sacks and conceding six penalties to secure a respectable 69.7 grade from Pro Football Focus.
