6 free-agent outside linebackers the Vikings could sign in 2022

Randy Gregory
2021 Team: Dallas Cowboys
Much will obviously depend on how much money the Minnesota Vikings can accumulate between now and when free agency gets underway. However, it’s absolutely vital that the organization finds an outside linebacker or two that can generate significant pressure flying off the edge.
The Vikings should do all they can to keep Danielle Hunter around and Dalvin Tomlinson gives them a solid defensive tackle capable of commanding space on the interior. Targeting someone like Randy Gregory could fit the bill providing the financial package works for both parties.
Gregory enjoyed a fine 2021 campaign with the Dallas Cowboys to reignite his career. His six sacks tied a career-high and there is nothing to suggest the powerful edge defender cannot build on this encouraging series of performances next time around.
There are some slight character concerns after Gregory missed the entire 2019 season through suspension after violating the league’s substance-abuse policy. But from a talent standpoint, there is a lot to like about his chances of making a serious impression in Minnesota.
Dallas has to move some money around in pursuit of keeping some of their top stars. Whether they can offer Gregory a deal that extends his stay is another matter.
