6 free-agent outside linebackers the Vikings could sign in 2022

Chandler Jones
2021 Team: Arizona Cardinals
If Chandler Jones and the Arizona Cardinals go their separate ways, the All-Pro will undoubtedly become one of the hottest names on the market. Although he is approaching the end of his prime, the edge rusher can still dominate a game when in the mood and would be an instant upgrade on anything the Minnesota Vikings have at their disposal currently.
Jones is a physically imposing individual who terrorizes opposing quarterbacks almost at will. He is a four-time Pro Bowler, has two All-Pro selections, is a Super Bowl champion, and was also named to the NFL’s All-Decade Team of the 2010s for good measure.
These credentials are right on track for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, which won’t go unnoticed by teams looking to bolster their pass-rushing options this spring. Whether the Vikings have a shot at landing someone like Jones in their current state is debatable, but those in power would be wise to make a call nonetheless.
The former Syracuse stud bounced back from a frustrating injury-hit campaign in 2020 to record 10.5 sacks last season. Jones has a relentless motor and is a prominent leadership figure for young players to lean on – traits that are always highly coveted by teams across the league constantly.
Minnesota could lean on Patrick Peterson for assistance in recruiting Jones if the cornerback returns. However, it does appear highly unlikely.
