2021 Teams: Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs

Plenty of teams had the chance to snap up Melvin Ingram during the 2021 offseason before he signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers and was subsequently traded to the Kansas City Chiefs. This switch gave the dynamic outside linebacker another opportunity to prove he could help a championship-caliber team, and although Andy Reid’s men fell short of their goals, the edge player can be enormously proud of the way he applied himself.

In a weird way, this was a bittersweet ending for Ingram in Kansas City, who might not have the money to keep him around if his representatives come into negotiations with demands that cannot be met. The Minnesota Vikings should be keeping a close eye on developments now that the veteran has proven beyond all doubt there is plenty of gas left in the tank.

Again, this will probably come down to money for Minnesota because the fit is tremendous. Ingram can get after the quarterback whenever he wants and is also experienced enough to provide exceptional gap discipline in obvious running situations.

Ingram has made $85.22 million throughout his career so far, according to Spotrac. This could mean the player is looking for the right fit rather than another big payday at this stage of his career.

It might take some convincing from Minnesota’s point of view, especially if the Chiefs also offer him an extended stay. However, a call should be made if Ingram hits the market.
