Finding a decent cornerback that would be able to start if needed is hard in today’s NFL. Passing offenses have many advantages over defenses and the Minnesota Vikings need help in that department in a major way.

The purple and gold have spent money to bring in a linebacker. defensive tackle, and tight end among their free-agent haul so far, but hasn’t addressed the problem of depth in the secondary the way they need to.

Casey Hayward started all 17 games for the Raiders last season and has been a starter since his 2015 season in Green Bay. Hayward looked like a refreshed player in 2021 despite being 31 years old. The two-time Pro Bowl defender still has a lot of gas in the tank and it’s a bit confusing as to why he wasn’t on Minnesota’s radar.

At the moment, it appears as though the Vikings will address the secondary through the draft, but it wouldn’t have hurt to have a little more veteran experience available, especially when you can grab a potential starter for $5.5M per year.
