Jeff Gladney – CB

The Minnesota Vikings were absolutely right to release Jeff Gladney after some serious legal issues surfaced regarding the cornerback. Once the player had been charged, then those in power really had no alternative, in all honesty.

Gladney was found not guilty following a trial, which came as a big relief to the former first-round pick. It also allowed him to pick up where he left off on another NFL team, signing with the Arizona Cardinals as he looks to get his life back on track.

Although the Cardinals massively underachieved down the stretch in 2021 after taking the NFL by storm earlier in the regular season, it would be foolish to write them off next time around despite how competitive the AFC is set to be following an unprecedented period of player movement. Gladney will have plenty on his plate, so it remains to be seen how he will handle this after missing so much action over the last year.

The ball is now in Gladney’s court. Either he uses this as an extra source of motivation or crumbles under the extra scrutiny – there will not be any in-between.

This won’t matter to the Vikings, who still have a real depth problem at cornerback and might end up using their first-round selection once again on the position given the strength elsewhere.
