Chazz Surratt, linebacker

Many fans seem to be very high on Chazz Surratt, but his fit in the new defensive scheme is a major question mark. He doesn’t fit in any of the four starting roles for linebackers since those are likely to go to Danielle Hunter, Eric Kendricks, Jordan Hicks, and Za’Darius Smith.

A Vikings’ third-round pick in 2021, the 25-year-old North Carolina product is a converted quarterback who is still a bit raw and needs time to refine his skills before becoming a regular contributor.

Surratt will need to beat out Blake Lynch, Troy Dye, Ryan Connelly, and rookie Brian Asamoah among others for a backup role as an inside linebacker where two or three of those players will earn a roster spot.

Chazz Surratt will need to prove that he has improved and grown over the offseason and have a big training camp as well as preseason in order to prove his worth. Sadly, that is an uphill battle that will be a big challenge for the young man.
