Cousins plays at an MVP level

The Minnesota Vikings didn’t have a better option than Kirk Cousins at the quarterback position in 2022. Couple this with his previous relationship with Kevin O’Connell and it’s not hard to see why the organization extended the signal-caller rather than standing pat and letting his contract play out.

Cousins is a polarizing figure to many. For obvious reasons.

The statistics are quality and have been for some time. But there just seems to be something missing regarding his ability to lead Minnesota on a deep postseason run.

Obviously, it would be a big surprise if the Vikings ended up as leading contenders in the first season under O’Connell. Although it would be foolish to rule such a notion out entirely.

One way the Vikings can do this is if Cousins plays at an MVP-type level. That might sound unrealistic, but it would be nothing short of a dream if the Michigan State product saw a significant increase in numbers with an offensive coach.

The weapons around Cousins are there for all to see. He also has one of the league’s best running backs and an offensive line that should also make strides when competitive action begins.

Simply put, Cousins will never get a better opportunity to silence his doubters once and for all. If he can do this, then the Vikings could end up being a huge surprise in 2022.
