Ty Chandler, running back

At first, keeping Ty Chandler on the roster seems unnecessary. The team already has Dalvin Cook, Alexander Mattison, and Kene Nwangwu returning for the upcoming season and each of those has their unique talents to add to the team.

Although Chandler’s skill set is somewhat similar to Nwangwu’s, his speed, athleticism, and vision have been on display in the preseason and he has been doing all the right things to earn a roster spot so far.

Typically, a fifth-round draft pick is far from a lock to make the team’s 53-man roster but there was something the scout team saw in the young running back to use their pick in the 2022 NFL Draft on him when they already had so much talent at the position.

If the Minnesota Vikings were to release Chandler, there is a very good chance another team hungry for a skilled, young running back would likely claim him from waivers and not allow the purple and gold to stash him on the practice squad.
