Ryan Wright – P

The truth is, there were a lot of deserving punters this year, so Ryan Wright just got lost in the shuffle, but the undrafted rookie has performed well enough to be named to the Pro Bowl. His stats back up that bold claim too.

Wright is in the top ten in punt yards, top 15 in punt average, top five in punts inside the 20, and has only one touchback this season, and that was because Jalen Nailor muffed his perfect punt.

The guy has been very solid for the Vikings all season long and has kicked his team out of some bad field position on numerous occasions.

Wright definitely does not yet have the name recognition to get voted in over the Johny Heckers and Tress Ways of the world, but his stats are solid across the board. It is even more impressive when it’s factored in that he was an undrafted rookie, and no one gave him much of a chance to make the team.

It’s fair to say that there were a lot of punters who kicked well enough to get named to the Pro Bowl. While 2023 won’t be Wright’s year, if he continues booting the ball the way he surprisingly did in 2022, he’ll get the honor sooner than later.
