It’s time now for me to dive into the world of power rankings – but only because I like to make a fool of myself. Here’s how the 32 teams stack up for my money:
- Indianapolis Colts
- San Diego Chargers
- Denver Broncos
- New England Patriots
- Chicago Bears
- Philadelphia Eagles
- Baltimore Ravens
- Dallas Cowboys
- Cincinnati Bengals
- Seattle Seahawks
- New Orleans Saints
- New York Giants
- Pittsburgh Steelers
- St. Louis Rams
- Jacksonville Jaguars
- New York Jets
- Carolina Panthers
- Kansas City Chiefs
- Minnesota Vikings
- San Francisco 49ers
- Detroit Lions
- Tennessee Titans
- Washington Redskins
- Miami Dolphins
- Arizona Cardinals
- Oakland Raiders
- Green Bay Packers
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Buffalo Bills
- Houston Texans
- Atlanta Falcons
- Cleveland Browns
I’m going with the old “they’re the champs until someone knocks them off” argument with the Colts – yeah, I know it’s a cop-out, but what the hell. You know San Diego will be a regular season juggernaut – we’ll see what actually happens once they get to the playoffs (it helps not to have Marty’s curse there anymore). My gut tells me Donovan McNabb is going to have a huge comeback year, hence my high ranking for the Eagles. I’ve got Cincy rebounding and the Saints having a letdown. And the Seahawks coming back, according to the old second year after losing the Super Bowl rule (which may or may not exist). The Cowboys at 8 may seem high, but I don’t know, I just have a feeling they could put it together with that senile old fool Parcells gone. Of course T.O. could tear the whole thing apart, but I’m counting on him not to. I wanted to stick our beloved Vikings higher, but 19 was the best I could justify. That puts them solidly in the hovering around .500 category, which could be optimistic. Yes, I stuck the Packers way down because they’re the Packers. It’s my blog – I can do whatever the heck I want.
