Has Devin Aromashodu Passed Bernard Berrian?

Bill Musgrave is slowly winning us over this week. Last night a post was written on how we should be patient with him and tonight his comments suggest that we’ll be seeing more of a wide receiver that has thrived when being given the chance.

When Musgrave was asked on Devin Aromashodu today he said, “He’s given us a spark, for sure. The emergence of Devin has helped us achieve some chunks and we’re always looking for chunks of yardage… Devin’s had two the last two games and we’d love to build on that and keep featuring him as often as we can.”

Hhmm… keep featuring him as often as we can. Given us a spark. Perhaps our only question is why has this taken until the middle of October to figure that out. Maybe Leslie Frazier’s loyalty was broken when Berrian missed two meeting and Musgrave was is in the head coach’s ear wanting more production out of the wide receivers. Maybe they watched the tape to finally realize Bernard Berrian cannot separate anymore while Aromashodu does possess a nice speed/size combo and actually fights for balls when covered. Maybe the media is running this team and the coaches read everything then respond with personnel moves. Whatever it may be, we won’t complain if indeed Aromashodu is starting this weekend.

Ironically the Vikings play the Chicago Bears on Sunday whom Berrian and Aromashodu both played for (although their tenures never overlapped) with this week’s media coverage significantly surrounded more on Aromashodu. What Vikings fans most remember is Aromashodu’s 7 catch, 150 yard, 1 touchdown performance where he beat Antoine Winfield in overtime to seal the victory for the Bears in 2009.

Hopefully the wide receiver that looks oh so close to Sidney Rice (if you squint enough) keeps the momentum going to have a career game against his former team. If Brett Favre can lead us to victory against the Packers… well… we can get our hopes up. Can’t we?
