What a Win Against The ‘Skins Means From a Draft Perspective

First and foremost, the “Andrew Luck Pick” is 99% out of the question. If the season ended today, our vikes would pick 3rd. While from the

outside, picking third doesn’t seem like such a bad thing, it is when you consider that the top prospect of the vikes greatest need (Matt Kalil-LT) will likely be gone by now. If that is the case and Kalil is gone, then there are a few moves our vikes could do. I’ve put together a list of all these possibilities.

1. Take Justin Blackmon(WR-Oklahoma State) 3rd overall. This would bolster our WR corps, however, without an o-line, whats the point?

2. Take Morris Claiborne(CB-LSU) 3rd overall. This would be the smarter move then taking Blackmon, because we have a greater need in the secondary then we do at WR, but this would be a reach as Claiborne is a Top 10 pick, not a Top 5 pick.

3. Trade down to 7th or 8th Overall, and draft Riley Reiff from Iowa, another LT with major upside, although he isn’t considered as good as Kalil. Doing this would also earn us an extra 2nd round pick, and likely another 1st or 2nd round pick next year. Jonathan Martin(LT-Stanford) is also a possibility here.

4. Draft Robert Griffin III(QB-Baylor) 3rd overall. This would seem unlikely, since we just drafted Ponder 12th overall, but I’m not sure that Frazier has all that much confidence in Ponder, in fact, Frazier even yanked Ponder against the Lions due to his poor play.
