Both Mel Kiper & Todd McShay Peg Matt Kalil To Vikings

It’s gotten to the point where someone saying that former USC left tackle Matt Kalil will be drafted 3rd overall by the Minnesota Vikings is not really news anymore. However when the draft guru who has the wackiest hair (Mel Kiper) and one who wears the most amount of fake sunscreen (Todd McShay) have a podcast on who the top five picks will be, we’ll relay the information to our readers.

The two talking heads spent the first 10 minutes of the podcast saying how Stanford’s Andrew Luck and Baylor’s Robert Griffin III would go 1-2 in some order then got to Minnesota with our favorite team only accounting for about two minutes. Kiper started the discussions on Minnesota saying, “Okay we have Christian Ponder. We’re in a division with three guys that can throw the heck out of the ball. We need Ponder to be the guy. That’s whats going to save this organization is Ponder being the guy. What’s going to help him be the man is getting a left tackle or a wide receiver. They also need a corner. This seems to be the spot where Matt Kalil is the obvious pick.” Kiper than asks McShay if it’s not Kalil where they would go and the sun tan man agreed. McShay did give an educated answer saying that Kalil is an elite prospect who ranks higher on his board than wide receiver Justin Blackmon of Oklahoma State, how Kalil plays a more premium position than Blackmon and that there are plenty of good value finds in the 2nd round singling out “big guys” such as Ruben Randle of LSU and Stephen Hill of Georgia Tech to compliment Percy Harvin.

And there we have it. Another Kalil to the Vikings post, which we’ve written extensively already on. You know what would be even more of a snoozer in the NFL blog world… “Peyton Manning to Team X” speculation posts that all read the same. Boy Oh Boy!
