Devin Aromashodu Staying On One-Year Deal

The wide receiver that looks enough like Sidney Rice, if you squint enough, Devin Aromashodu has re-signed with the Vikings on a one-year deal per Jeremy Fowler of the Pioneer Press. Boy it’s sure going to be fun having to type out the 10-lettered name of Aromashodu on this blog and on Twitter for another year. Getting down to business though…

Aromashodu went undrafted out of Auburn in 2006, the Vikings are his sixth team, but this will be the second time in his career that he’s stuck with one team for more than a year (Aromashodu also spent 2008-2010 with the Chicago Bears and Vikings fans remember the frigid Soldier Field game where he burned by Antoine Winfield to beat us in overtime). Aromashodu also looks the part at 6’2” & 201 pounds and has plenty of speed, but struggles to gain separation and is at best a mediocre route runner. He is however decent blocker and good guy in the locker room from a position where most guys are divas. Aromashodu should compete for a 4th wide receiver spot and help on special teams, which is a better role than being one of our most used receivers last year after Bernard Berrrian got himself cut.

As for the Vikings search for a legit number one wide receiver who’s capable of playing outside allowing Percy Harvin and Kyle Rudolph to work the middle of the field, that search goes on and will likely be addressed in the draft. Just what we need… More Mock Drafts!
