Vikings Take Josh Robinson In 3rd Round

The Vikings had to sit the first half of the night out with trading away their 2nd round pick to the Baltimore Ravens in a move up to snag Notre Dame safety Harrison Smith at the end of the first round. Yet when the time came to find the podium in the 3rd round it was no other than Anthony Carter who had the honors of reminding us of the Jerry Burns glory days of 20-some years ago. Geez! Aren’t we getting old?

With AC at the podium the Vikings made known they’d be taking cornerback Josh Robinson of Central Florida with the 66th overall selection. The vibe on Robinson is that he’s speedster that has respectable height at 5’10”, has decent ball skills capable of playing in both man and zone coverage. He is also raw however not facing the finest of competition at Central Florida and may have a learning curve entering the NFL. But with the current status of our cornerbacks he has a shot at competing with Chris Carr opposite Chris Cook for the other starting position. All in all, a decent pick for the Vikings. And if we’re allowed to gloat, we mocked Robinson to the Vikings earlier this week. Just happened to be off by a round.

Barring a trade up the Vikings are done for the night.
