Folks Can’t Stop Talking About That Adrian Peterson-Percy Harvin Hill Race

Ian Rapoport of Rap Sheet fame was there too and he couldn’t believe it either. “It was one of the coolest things I’ve seen,” Rapoport raved. “Two electric athletes, both fighting their way back to health, just absolutely going after it.”

What am I talking about? Adrian Peterson and Percy Harvin’s epic OTA hill race of course. Well, series of hill races, actually. You may have read that AD beat Percy in the hill race, but the truth is, Percy bested Peterson in several heats. Peterson did get Percy a couple of times, which of course is remarkable given that AD is still technically supposed to be rehabbing from major knee surgery.

Percy himself is coming off surgery, though the procedure done on him was minor and quite routine, and had nothing to do with his legs. Still, the sight of Percy hoofing it up that hill must’ve been great for team morale. And of course, seeing Adrian must’ve been downright inspiring. Christian Ponder certainly took note.

“I think it’s important that they’re here and be able to see them working together,” Ponder said. “We saw them running hills while we were practicing and it’s great to see. Obviously, we know that they have been putting in the work when they haven’t been here but for them to be here and to see that, it means a lot of us guys. I think it’s important.”

This may sound like hyperbole, but if the Vikings go on to gel as a team and make the Super Bowl in the next few years? You’ll be able to look back on the day Percy Harvin and Adrian Peterson ran up the hill as the starting point of a magical run. Okay I almost kept a straight face.

Seriously though, it must’ve been cool to see in person. Those of us not lucky enough to be there will have to be content with the video on Vikings.com. Awe-inspiring.
