Looking for an angle on these championship games to get your brain interested? Could always root for some former Vikings. A couple of old Purple fan favorites are suiting up today, possibly for the last time. In the AFC you’ve got Matt Birk lining up for the Ravens as they attempt to get back to the Super Bowl. And in the NFC of course, Randy Moss will go for the Niners against the Falcons.

Oh and Bryant McKinnie is playing for Baltimore. But he’s not a fan favorite is he? I guess if you hate McKinnie you could always root for New England. Who wants to see McKinnie in the Super Bowl?

Back to that Niners-Falcons game. There’s a little bit more of a Vikings history angle here. The Falcons of course are one of the teams that torments Viking Nation’s memory. ’98 Title Game. Gary Anderson. All that. I guess if you wanted to really stretch you could say this is Randy Moss’s shot at revenge against the Falcons. But I seriously doubt that angle will be on Randy’s mind today. I hope Randy gets to make a big catch and have an impact on the game. One last hurrah for the Freak? It would be fun to see him back in the Super Bowl.

Same thing with Birk. It would be nice to see him get a shot at a ring after the years of disappointment in Minnesota. Something to root for on this Viking-less championship Sunday.
