The great Deer Antler Spray Scandal of 2013 is widening out in scope. It’s not just Ray Lewis in the meat grinder anymore. Now more famous athletes are getting sucked into the whole mess. Including Brett Favre.

Favre’s name has now been specifically mentioned by the man at the center of the scandal, Mitch Ross. Ross, who heads the somewhat sketchy S.W.A.T.S Program, says he gave deer antler spray to more athletes than just Ray Lewis. He names Favre and former Cowboys safety Roy Williams as recipients of the controversial product. Deer antler spray is banned under the NFL’s performance enhancing drug policy because it contains IGF-1. Lewis for his part denies ever using it. But he also probably murdered someone so who really believes him?

These things usually play out pretty predictably. Favre will now be invited to respond to Ross’s allegations. Since Favre isn’t actually in the league anymore, he probably won’t feel compelled to say much. What does he really care at this point? It’s not like he’s a baseball player who broke a bunch of 100-year-old records. He’s a football player. And no one really seems to mind if football players use PEDs.

So don’t be looking for any tearful Favre appearances on Oprah. On the Old Gunslinger Scandal Scale, this ranks somewhere below Dong-gate. Way below.
