Who Should Be On Vikings Mt. Suckmost?

You’ve all seen the Mount Rushmore posts over at Pro Football Talk? It’s a pretty basic premise in sports talk and sports blogging. Pick a franchise. Then pick the four people who are the most significant and great in the history of that franchise. For example, according to PFT, Vikings Mount Rushmore should include Alan Page, Adrian Peterson, Fran Tarkenton and Cris Carter. The fans who voted over there said Bud Grant should be up there instead of Page. I’d bump Carter in favor of Bud but that’s just me.

Well that’s all great but what about the flip side? We have celebrated the heroes but what about the goats? The men who epitomize the other side of the coin? The moments of ineptitude? The failures? The outright embarrassments?

Some of you may be asking why we should even go there. I guess I am just Mr. Negativity. But I also believe there is a certain value in remembering the low points of the past. It makes us appreciate the triumphs all the more. Eventually there will be some triumphs to appreciate. Just hang in there Viking fans!

So let’s forget about Vikings greatness for a little while and celebrate Vikings suckiness. Who are your choices not for Vikings Mount Rushmore but Vikings Mount Suckmost?

There are plenty of worthy candidates. Just off the top of my head I can name several guys deserving of this distinction. Of course there may be a few guys I’m forgetting. In the interest of thoroughness, I’m going to open things up to the readers for nominees. If you have someone you think is deserving of inclusion on Mt. Suckmost, mention them in the comments. Or tweet the names to @thevikingage. Remember this can include players, coaches, GMs, owners – anyone who contributed to Vikings failure over the years. After a few days I will round up the worthiest nominees plus the people I want to nominate and whittle the list down to 12. Then we’ll have a vote and the top four vote-getters will be placed on Mt. Suckmost. Sound like fun? Let’s get nominating.
