When news broke Monday morning that Leslie Frazier had been let go as Vikings head coach, the next question that jumped to the front of fans’ minds logically was, What about Bill Musgrave?

Or, for some fans, What about that bleep bleep bleep Bill Musgrave I bleeping hate that motherbleep bleep?

For the sake of these Musgrave haters and their sanity, I’d love to report that Bill Musgrave has been fired as offensive coordinator. No, I’d love to report that he’s been thrown out of a moving truck into a ditch filled with toxic waste. No, toxic waste and alligators. Mutant alligators.

But I can’t. Because he hasn’t. Yet.

Rick Spielman’s latest status report on Musgrave and the other assistants, provided this afternoon during Rick’s fascinating press conference, was that all are still under contract. And must receive permission before they can leave for other jobs.

So as of now, Bill Musgrave is still offensive coordinator. Alan Williams is still defensive coordinator. Mike Priefer is still special teams coordinator. And Mike Singletary is still whatever the hell Mike Singletary is.

I do have to believe that most or all of those guys will be let go eventually. Some will wish to leave for other jobs and some will simply not be retained by whoever is hired to replace Leslie Frazier.

A couple of them may actually be interviewed for the head coaching job themselves. Mike Priefer is a guy who’s been rumored as a possible candidate. And what about Musgrave? He should be a hot coaching commodity too after the way he handled that dynamic Vikings offense.

Just kidding. Musgrave isn’t getting interviewed for head coaching jobs, either in Minnesota or anywhere else.

My advice for fans itching to see Musgrave get his comeuppance is…be patient. He’ll be gone sooner or later. No way is he brought back in any capacity for 2014. Not happening.

Nope.

He’s history.
