Another Viking legend has given Johnny Manziel his official endorsement.

Brett Favre likes Manziel. Fran Tarkenton likes Manziel. And now, Cris Carter

Carter has bought into the Johnny Football hype. Just like a lot of other fans.

Manziel would certainly make for a lot of great blogging material, and he might even work out on the field after some reining in by Norv Turner.

But when you take the whole Johnny Football package together, the red flags, the questions about his ability to perform as a pocket QB, all of it together…is he a good gamble at #8 overall?

Will he even be there at #8? Rumors have the Buccaneers looking hard at Manziel at #7.

Just me, but I think Manziel to the Vikings is a long shot. Frankly, I doubt Rick Spielman will go QB in the first round at all.

But, if the Vikings do go QB in the first, Manziel makes as much sense as any of the other prospects.

Cris Carter doesn’t need any convincing. He’s a Johnny Football guy.

So are a lot of other former players. They seem to have bought into the idea that Manziel is a playmaker and a winner. They’re obviously not concerned about his red flags.

They’re also not in danger of being fired should they mess up this draft. Rick Spielman, on the other hand, does face that danger. So he might be inclined to look at Johnny Manziel a little differently.
