Teddy Bridgewater Has Fourth Best-Selling Rookie Jersey

Viking fans are buying in on Teddy Bridgewater early and they are buying in hard. The evidence is right there in the sales of Bridgewater’s jerseys.

Per NFL PR, Bridgewater currently has the fourth best-selling jersey among all the rookies, trailing only Johnny Manziel, Michael Sam and Jadeveon Clowney. Blake Bortles is #5.

Being a QB certainly doesn’t hurt Bridgewater’s jersey sales – three of the top five guys are QBs – but it’s more than just the position he plays.

Bridgewater has a big-time national profile thanks to the media attention he received in college. And, Viking fans are just excited to see him come aboard.

Fans are thrilled to run out and plunk down their money for a Bridgewater #5, because they believe Bridgewater will finally be the QB to lead the Vikings to the promised land.

It remains to be seen whether Bridgewater actually can be that guy. First he has to lock down the starting job in Minnesota. It might be awhile before he rises to #1 on the depth chart.

The Vikings don’t have to hurry with Bridgwater, because they have Matt Cassel.

Even so, I argue the Vikings should give Bridgewater a fair shot in camp to beat Cassel. Recent comments by Mike Zimmer suggest the coach would prefer Bridgewater win the job sooner rather than later.

Whatever the realities of Bridgwater’s situation, Viking fans are sold on him. Enough to plop down hard earned money for his jersey.

I didn’t believe any of the QB’s would go in the top 10 ~ I wasn’t sold on this group ~ Teddy almost made it into the second round but ~ He got as close as he could to the second ~ LOL ~ However I’m glad the Vikings traded up to get him ~ I wasn’t sold on him to start with and when everyone talking him down I got on the “””Crazy Train””” ~ His hand size is what really worried me but after looking up his turnover stats it turns out Teddy takes very good care of the ball ~ Hopefully his hand size want bother him in cold weather and he has enough arm to keep the short passing game going when those winds come howling in ~ I know he will be playing in the new dome in a couple of years but if he cant win in bad weather what good is he ~

The above being said I trust Turner to know what he needs at QB ~ I also like the fact Turner made it clear early on that he is happy being a OC and has no plans of taking another HC and all the headaches that go along with being a HC ~ That means Turner isn’t going anywhere soon ~ So he isn’t going to be happy with just anyone as his QB the team trusted him to take in round one ~ Teddy is as connected to Norv as he is to Zimmer as he is to Spielman ~ For that reason I feel good about this pick now because all of their job are worth a lot of money to them if Teddy doesn’t play well ~ I believe Teddy will play outstanding football at some point in the near future ~ Hopefully Cassel plays well this year also and Teddy gets to set and learn for at the very least 6 games ~ If Teddy is ready sooner then great ~ But please dont throw him to the lions like they did Ponder ~ Because I believe that not having any WR’s other than Simpson affected the type of QB he is today ~ I dont want that happening again ~ Ponder got the cold shoulder his rookie year because Musgrave has to spend all of his time working with McNabb who was trying to learn Musgraves offense also after the CBA lockout ~ So Ponder was left to himself until McNabb was cut ~ Lets make sure Teddy is ready before we put him on the field ~

So hear and now I eat my crow for saying the Vikings wouldn’t take a QB in round 1 ~ I was dead wrong even though they traded back into the first round ~ I was wrong ~ So feel free to fire away ~ Throw those crows ~ LOL
