Several Minnesota Vikings Players Change Jersey Numbers

Every year in the NFL, one or two players on each team seem to have a player that changes jersey numbers in order to wear a number that is special to them.  This happened today with the Minnesota Vikings and a former first round draft pick among others.

Here is a list of Minnesota Vikings players with new numbers:

  • Sharrif Floyd (old number: 95, new number: 73)
  • Scott Crichton (old number: 72, new number: 95)
  • Isame Faciane (old number: 73, new number: 76)
  • Matt Hall (old number: 73, new number 72)
  • Shamar Stephen (old number: 76, new number 93)

The change that will make the biggest difference to fans here is Sharrif Floyd changing from #95 to #73.  Although I didn’t purchase a Floyd jersey during his rookie year, the fans who did now have a Floyd jersey with the incorrect number on it.  Sure, they could consider it a throwback or a relic, but odds are they will be disappointed by the news that one of their favorite young Minnesota Vikings players changed their number.

It makes sense that Floyd would change his jersey number though.  Back at the University of Florida, he wore the number 73, but didn’t push for the number during his rookie year in the NFL.  Now, Floyd has made the move to rectify the mistake and will don the #73 jersey until otherwise noted.

The other bigger news here is rookie defensive end Scott Crichton switching from #72 to #95.  It is pretty cool that Crichton will get to wear the number that he did at Oregon State.  Hopefully you haven’t ordered a Scott Crichton jersey yet so you can get the new number he will wear.
