The Minnesota Vikings seem to really be looking to the future.  They have already locked up their two major free agents heading into the 2015 season by signing both right guard Brandon Fusco and tight end Kyle Rudolph to 5 year extensions.  While there are still plenty of players scheduled to become free agents this year, things are definitely looking bright for this team because of those deals being completed.

Here is an updated list of players scheduled to become free agents for the Minnesota Vikings in 2015:

  • Brandon Fusco – Signed 5 year, $25 million extension
  • Kyle Rudolph – Signed 5 year, $36.5 million extension
  • Christian Ponder

  • Jerome Felton
  • Corey Wootton
  • Cullen Loeffler
  • Tom Johnson
  • Jerome Simpson
  • Jasper Brinkley
  • Vladimir Ducasse

  • Joe Berger
  • Mike Harris
  • Matt Asiata
  • Reserve/Injured

With the two highest priority players entering the final years of their rookie deal being given extension prior to the 2014 season beginning, this allows a lot of flexibility when it comes to the salary cap as well as security at those positions going forward.  While there are several other role players and veterans on the team that will most likely be signed back on shorter one or two year deals, the main goal for the Vikings had to be to lock up their two starting players on offense.

Depending on how this season goes and the play of a couple of the players on this list, there could be a couple more players well deserving of a longer deal with the Vikings.  However, for now the Minnesota Vikings are doing their best to make sure they secure the young talent that have earned big deals with the team.
